2010 BMC Pro Machine

Here are a bunch of Photo's from Dean Bentley of the 2010 BMC Pro Machine that I built up last weekend. We are so psyched on this bike and the color for this year, so much nicer in person than in the catalogue. If you like blue this is a bike you should really take a look at. More than that though, if you like smooth but stiff bikes this is one of the best out there. Yes, the new Team Machine is amazing, maybe even one of the best overall new bikes to come out this year, but the Pro Machine should not be overlooked. More on that later, for now, enjoy the photo's...

Built this bike w/ a Campagnolo Super Record group set, Campagnolo Hyperon One wheels (amazing wheels, nicest carbon clinchers out there in our opinion), Deda bar and stem, Vittoria Open Corse clinchers, and San Marco Aspide saddle. Weight as you see it, 15.02lbs. Picture makes the front end look a little tall, but that's about 8cm of drop w/ a 14cm stem. The frame is a 51.5cm.

Easton EC90SLX fork. For sure not the stiffest out there, but possibly the smoothest. It is uncanny how smooth this bike is, esp. w/ the Campagnolo Hyperon wheels. Descending on this bike is great, I just find that I change my technique a little to compensate for the fork. If you are used to the ultra overly stiff overly sized head tubes and fork crowns out there it may take a few rides to get up to speed, but once you do you'll be rewarded to one of the smoothest descending bikes out there. 14cm Deda Zero stem and Deda Zero 100 bars in white. Perfect match for the frame. Same with the Deda tape in baby blue. Even the riders who could care less about the aesthetics of their bikes have come into the shop and commented on how nice this one looks...

Weather you are into this paint scheme or not, you have to hand it to BMC for stepping out of the box a bit here. It's interesting to us why they only did it with this model. The new Team Machine is a beautiful frame but is back to the standard black/white or black/red. So, hopefully we'll sell a bunch of these and show them it can work! Don't be afraid to stand out a little!

Just cutting off this little nub of steer tube on top of the stem and I should get under 15lbs... then I'll show all the skinny little climber types!

nanosolve molecules, pretty cool stuff I'm sure. Whatever you call it though, it works, this bike is about as smooth as it gets. A really fun bike to ride...

Powder blue...

Nice rear end

Ciao!

Leanda Cave & Escape from Alcatraz

We had the pleasure last Sunday to hang out w/ our good friend Leanda before and after the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. Leanda is in great shape this year and was looking forward to a big test and an attempt at winning the event for the 3rd time, something that only has happened one other time. Here is a quick photo essay of the day. Thanks to Kalara for all the pics and suffering through all the vip access that Leanda arranged for her!

Little before 7am Sunday morning. Looking like it'll be a pretty nice day...

Leanda looking pretty calm eating breakfast w/ former Escape from Alcatraz winner Becky Lavelle and her husband.

Well, it wouldn't be called Escape from Alcatraz if it wasn't for uhmmm, Alcatraz...

Again, Leanda looking pretty relaxed, about 10 minutes before the race. Game face any second though!

Nice shot Kalara! Leanda is either the first or second pink cap...

Coming in off the bike tied for the lead. Rode the Pinarello FT3 w/ Easton wheels. In my opinion at least, the nicest looking bike in the field.

Seconds after her 3rd win in the event, talking to the announcer. Close race, finished about 30 seconds up on 2nd place.

Top spot on the podium!

And more interviews...

Leanda and the Pinarello FT3. Again, super sweet rig. Somewhat windy, pretty hilly and curvy, the course was perfect for the somewhat shallow wheels, compared to a disc anyway. The Easton wheels are awesome and worth a try for all racers, road and tri.

And one last shot in the new kit that Leanda designed. Awesome work on the race win and #3!

Traveling? The Biknd Helium soft case, best in show

We usually don't get too excited about things like bike bags, but we do get excited about quality and the Biknd Helium travel case is in the latter category. This is most likely the most thought out soft case that we have ever seen. What do you think of when looking for the perfect bag to carry your dream bike across the pond or any other destination? Protection, ease of use, protection, smaller size so as to fit in a euro size car, protection, quality construction, room for extra wheels, protection, fits TT bikes, etc? Most of the time you can find a few of these features but not all of them in one package. Until now, this bag is amazing; it fold small for storage, is built beautifully, offers plenty of protection, fits FOUR wheels, fits in smaller cars and looks great and much more! See our excitement here?!
Anyway, here is a little stop action on how easy it is to get your bike packed...

Looks somewhat big when opened fully, but it's not...

Easy to mount the bike. There are covers included to protect the crank, stem, fork blades...

Only have two wheels in this occasion, but 4 is no hassle at all.

Now, flip the cover over the wheels (the yellow thing is the air bladder). Minimal disassembly required.

Flip the other air bladder over the other wheel...

Zip up the two halves and then the cool part; pump up the air bladders that separate the wheels and the frame...

and then zip up the hard front cover, and you're ready to roll... price is $599 for the case and we have them in stock right now so call with any questions or to order one in time for all the summer bike tours...
